Firm Overview

Thank you for visiting this web site, and for your interest in this law firm.

This is a single-attorney firm. Practicing in this manner allows the firm to offer a number of advantages to clients:

  • Decreased overhead, resulting in decreased expense to clients.
  • Easier communications for clients and more personal service... whenever a client calls, he or she reaches the attorney with ultimate responsibility for his or her case or matter directly. No client need ever work their way through a series of receptionists, secretaries, assistants, paralegals, associates, and junior partners to reach the person "in charge".
  • When in-person conferences are desirable, only one person need travel... your attorney. Clients need not interrupt their normal flow of business to bring files and records to an attorney's office. For individual for clients with individual needs, e.g. estate planning, "house calls" are available. Scheduling telephone or in-person conferences can be very flexible... evening and/or weekend calls or meetings can be arranged if necessary.

As is evident from browsing this web site, this firm emphasizes service to small and medium-sized businesses, professional practices, and estates or trusts... or to individuals needing assistance with financial or business-related matters. The range of services includes both transactional, or planning, services, as well as litigation services. Litigation services include traditional court trials, hearings, administrative hearings and appeals, and "alternative dispute resolution" forums, such as arbitration, mediation, and mini-trials.

Written fee agreements are required for all matters and all clients. Fee agreements usually are time-and-expense, but can be contingency, flat-fee, or hybrid in nature. Hourly fees range from $250 to $400 an hour for attorneys, and $100 per hour for paralegals. Deposits are required for most clients and most matters, but usually are fully refundable. Deposit funds are kept in trust accounts, in accordance with state law. Deposits apply to final bills for clients and/or matters. Statements are sent each month, no matter what type of fee agreement is in place. If an amount is due from a client, it must be paid within ten days of the billing date to avoid finance charges. Payments may be made by company check, certified check, cashier's check, wire transfer, or in some cases by personal check.

Please note that facsimile and email services are available in addition to telephone, mail, and delivery services. The firm digitally signs email to ensure the identity of the sender as well as integrity of the message. Email can also be encrypted to ensure protection of client confidentiality and attorney-client privileges, if the client has Verisign® capability. Please note that facsimile reception is available only Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time, unless prior arrangement is made.

The firm does not handle matters and or cases involving: criminal law, child custody and/or support, child/spousal/elder abuse, labor law and unions, natural resources, workers compensation, civil rights, admiralty, immigration, or public interest law.

The firm is licensed in California and Colorado.
